It's time to relax!
At Champion Mentors, we’re specialised STA providers who offer respite accommodation to people over 12 years of age. Together, we can go adventuring, relaxing and exploring across Australia. Short break experiences are a great way of trying new activities, making new friends and learning new skills.
It’s also a nice opportunity for your carers and informal support network to have a break themselves, so they’re just as recharged as you are when you return home.

Frequently Asked Questions
What’s the difference between STA and respite care?
STA and respite care are both types of short-term accommodation and support services that can help people with disabilities and their carers to have a break from their usual routines and environments. However, there are some differences between them.
STA is a broader term that covers various types of short-term accommodation supports, including respite care. Respite services are a specific type of STA that focuses on providing relief for the carers, family members and informal supports of the participants.
Where will I stay during NDIS short term accommodation?
Champion Mentors have access to various specialist disability accommodation options that are comfortable, safe, and accessible. You can choose to stay at one of our partner locations, such as hotels, motels, resorts, or holiday homes. Alternatively, you can also request to stay at a place of your choice, as long as it meets the NDIS standards and requirements.
Who will be with me during STA?
During your getaway, you will be accompanied by one or more of our Mentors who will provide you with as much support and care as you need. You can also choose to share supports with other participants who have similar interests and goals as you. Your support coordinator will match you with compatible mentors and participants based on your preferences and needs.
How much does disability short term accommodation cost?
Generally, funding for your STA depends on the type of accommodation, the duration of stay, the number of participants and Mentors involved, and the activities planned. Your local area coordinator will provide you with a quote before you book your STA. You can use the NDIS for short-term accommodation funding if it is included in your plan under Core Supports - Assistance with Daily Life.
